What to Expect at the CEDIA Tech + Business Summits
Each summit is a one-day event focused on upcoming smart home technology. Manufacturers display their latest products, and free seminars cover technology and business topics throughout the day. You can walk the floor, sit in on a session, and leave with something you can use on your next job.
The Toronto agenda covers both sides of the business. One session covers installation-focused setup menus and HDMI diagnostic tools built into current AV receivers, designed for faster commissioning and troubleshooting. Another looks at how design, construction, lighting, shading, climate, security, and entertainment can no longer be planned separately in today’s homes. Full agendas for each city are on CEDIA’s summit overview.
The summits aren’t just for owners. CEDIA designed them for every role and career stage, from owners to techs. Bring your project managers and newer installers too.
Why Vertical Cable is Coming to Toronto and Montreal
Every system on those show floors depends on the cable behind the wall: speakers, networking gear, lighting, and control systems. That infrastructure gets specified early, pulled before drywall, and expected to perform for years. When it fails, it’s expensive to fix.
That’s the conversation we’re here to have. Stop by and talk through:
- Whole-home audio: choosing speaker wire gauge for long runs and knowing when an in-wall job calls for a CL2 or CL3 rating.
- Residential networking: CAT6 vs. CAT6A for homes running more access points, cameras, and streaming devices.
- Low-voltage lighting: multi-conductor LED cable for landscape and architectural lighting, including direct burial options.
- Equipment rooms: open frame racks and enclosures that keep the head end clean and serviceable.
How to Register for Free
Registration is free and takes a couple of minutes on CEDIA’s site. Use the Toronto registration page or the Montreal registration page, and register ahead so your badge is ready when you arrive.
There’s also a workshop between the two shows. On Wednesday, October 7, CEDIA is hosting “From Busy to Profitable,” a hands-on workshop for integrators using the CEDIA Financial Toolkit, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM in Toronto.
