GETTING IT INSTALLED?

A few tips to get clean terminations with the 078-1023:

• Score the jacket, don’t slice through it. Rotate lightly around the cable so you don’t nick the conductors underneath. About 1.5 in of jacket removed is typical for 110 block terminations.
• Keep the untwist short. TIA-568 limits untwisted conductor at the termination to about 0.5 in (13 mm), so leave the pairs twisted as close to the termination as you can.
• Seat all eight conductors fully. Punch down straight and level so each conductor settles completely into its IDC slot.
• Trim the excess. The punch-down blade doesn’t cut, so keep a pair of flush cutters handy to clean up the conductor ends.
