Vertical Cable’s Array Splice Cassette was developed in response to the need for a high-density splicing solution for 1-RMU optical fiber rack enclosures where the internal vertical space can accommodate a maximum of three regular splice trays and in most situations only two, limiting the number of fibers that can be spliced to 48 typically and 72 maximum. The main principle of the cassette design is based on the vertical arrangement of the splice holders instead of the
horizontal arrangement in conventional splice trays. For this purpose, a number of “cartridges”, each equipped with a splice holder capable of holding up to twelve fiber sleeves, are arranged in the base.
Features/advantages:
- High-density fiber splicing (up to 144 fibers)
- Fits vertically into 1-RMU rack-mount enclosures
- Fits into most mid-size/large wall-mount enclosures
- Random access to any cartridge
- Compact size allows for mounting with transverse or longitudinal orientation
- Aluminum alloy and epoxy powder coating provide excellent corrosion resistance
The product is not limited to 1 RMU enclosures and can be used in a variety of optical fiber enclosures of different sizes (starting at 1 RMU in rack-mount units) and mounting options (rack or wall) that have mounting holes/embedded nuts with 42 mm (~1.65 in) center-to-center spacing typical of many standard splice trays. Where there are no readily available mounting holes, the cassette can be installed by drilling two holes in the mounting surface.
Array Splice Cassettes are currently available in three sizes:
- 6-cartridge (72-fiber capacity) designed for standard fiber density terminations in 1-RMU racks (three LGX adapter
plates in a row) and small/medium wall-mount units that also use LGX adapter plates. Larger connectivity
hardware units can also use the cassettes as needed. - 8-cartridge (96-fiber capacity) designed for high-density fiber terminations in 1-RMU racks (four non-LGX highdensity
adapter plates in a row) and mid-size wall-mount units that also use non-LGX or LGX adapter plates. - 12-cartridge (144-fiber capacity), targeting 1-RMU rack-mount splice transition, high-density fiber terminations in
larger units, and large wall-mount units.
The cassette construction consists of only three parts, all made of aluminum alloy finished with black epoxy powder.
Typical as-delivered configurations include the following:
1 × base;
1 × cover;
N × cartridges (N: 6, 8, or 12);
N × splice protection sleeves (N: 72, 96, or 144);
2 × M3 CTS machine screws;
2 × M3 hex nuts.
An optional label holder is available for circuit identification:
